Privacy policy

Album of the Day works without an account. There is no analytics code, no advertising and no tracking in the app, and we do not sell data. Almost everything stays on your iPhone.

Who is responsible

Album of the Day is made by sittingonacornflake CommV, Toekomststraat 74, 9040 Sint-Amandsberg, Belgium, company number BE 0479 620 359. Questions about this policy go to johan@sittingonacornflake.be.

What stays on your device

• The five records you pick, and what you say at a cover (more or less of something).
• The record of each day, your chosen hour and your music service setting.
• Cached covers and track lists, so the app also works offline.

This data lives in the app's own storage on your iPhone and is part of your normal device backup. We have no access to it. Deleting the app deletes it.

The daily notification

If you allow notifications, the app registers your device with our server so it can send one notification a day at the hour you chose. The server stores:

• the notification token Apple assigns to your device,
• the hour you chose and your time zone,
• the version of the record pool your app has, and the platform (iOS).

That is all. The server does not know which record you get: the app decides that on your device. The notification itself only says a record is waiting. The server is hosted by Combell in Belgium. When you delete the app, Apple stops accepting the token; our server then marks it invalid and deletes the entry within 30 days. Send an email if you want it removed sooner.

Requests to our server

The app downloads the record pool from our server about once a week, and, without an Apple Music subscription, fetches a short-lived key to read Apple's music catalogue. Like any web server, ours keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, requested file) for a limited time. They are not linked to you or to your notification token.

Music services

Album details, covers and 30-second previews come from Apple's music catalogue. Those requests go to Apple with the record's identifier and your IP address, as with any website; they do not pass through us.

If you connect Apple Music, playback runs through Apple's MusicKit on your device, under Apple's privacy policy. We do not receive your listening history or your Apple Music account details. If you choose another service, the app only opens a record in that service's app or website; what happens there is governed by that service.

Your rights

You can ask which personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to its processing. One email is enough. If we cannot resolve it together, you can turn to the Belgian Data Protection Authority, Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels.

If the app starts doing something new with your data, this page changes first, with the date below.
